Flying back into our hearts! Spyro the Reignited Trilogy
Nostalgia Can’t get any better.
Back when Spyro the dragon first dropped in PS1, the pixelated graphics mesmerized its players getting them to support a little purple dragon and created a following that has existed to this day. Fast forward to 2018, can a game that is almost 20 years old, still have the same impression on its players that it once did. As well as add new fans to the franchise made famous by the colorful purple dragon The Answer is a resounding YES!!
Having played both the original version and the remastered version. I can say that the remastered Spyro has everything that we love from the originals and adds a more fluid movement as we explored the different worlds.
The graphics are colorful and fun, drawing the player into the experience for a great sense of nostalgia. Having been a particular fan of Spyro: Ripto’s Rage, I loved diving back into Avalar and joined by the same great characters that I came to love as a kid.
The game offers something for new fans of the franchise as well, as it brings a sense of fun and joy, not seen in many games today.
With that being said, there are a couple of things that could have been improved upon, having to wait after buying the game for the rest of it to download via the online store, was a bit tiring as like any new game. You want to jump in and start playing and exploring everything that it has to offer. There were also moments in which I preferred the original pixelated version of the games, simply because it was these games that I grew up with.
Overall, Spyro Remastered is a fantastic game that should be on everyone’s list for playing. While it does not have the story depth as some of the more serious games, sometimes we don’t need to have a serious story line in order for a game to be good. Sometimes, just having a game that allows you to escape and burn to orcs, is all it need to be successful.
